The fields of psychosis and psychotraumatology have operated largely independently for many years, developing different approaches to conceptualizing and treating mental disorders. Only recently has it been recognized that both fields could benefit from increased communication and the exchange of ideas. Recent retrospective studies have revealed that persons diagnosed with psychotic disorders report high levels of childhood trauma (though typically not as extreme as those reported by persons with dissociative disorders), and prospective studies link early adverse experiences to the development of psychotic symptoms. Many psychotic symptoms, particularly the so-called ‘Schneiderian’ or 1st rank symptoms of schizophrenia are commonly found in persons with dissociative disorders. Auditory hallucinations, strongly emphasized in the current diagnosis of schizophrenia, are common not only in dissociative disorders, but also in PTSD, and delusions are found with such frequency in PTSD that some have called for a psychotic subtype of PTSD. In addition, there appears to be some justification to revive the old category of hysterical psychosis – a blend of dissociation and psychosis now called dissociative psychosis. Clinically, psychological approaches, including those developed in the dissociative disorders field, are increasingly being used with persons who experience psychotic symptoms. This seminar will offer an opportunity for a dialogue between the fields of psychosis and psychotraumatology, focusing on various aspects of the interface between psychosis, trauma, and dissociation. It will aim to provide: (1) within an historical context, an update on the research and clinical literature, offering a synthesis of relevant findings and perspectives; and (2) an overview of
clinical and treatment implications, including psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy, and patient management. Case examples will be presented, and participants will be encouraged to contribute to the discussions held over both days.Traumaterapiakeskus

01-4-2014, door A Struik
Doelgroep
Psychotherapeuten, psychologen, pedagogen, psychiaters, systeemtherapeuten, HBO
geschoolden.
Trainer
Arianne Struik is ontwikkelingspsycholoog/systeemtherapeut en EMDR-supervisor. Zij werkt

24-27 JUNE 2013 IN FREE UNIVERSITY of AMSTERDAM
Three inspiring scientists will present plenary talks on June 24 and share their knowledge and insights in full day workshops on June 26 and27. June 25 will focus on the important link between music and emotion.
Dr. Stephen Porges, a Professor of Psychiatry at the University of North Carollina, will discuss the principles of the Polyvagal Theory and how the theory leads to a new understanding of the neurophysiological mechanisms involved in maintaining mental health and regulating emotion. Dr. Sue Carter, Professor Psychiatry at the Universitry of North Carolina, will discuss the importance of oxytocin in social behavior, bonding, and as a potential endogneous antidote of stress and anxiety. Bessel van der Kolk will share his knowledge about integration in mind, body and social connection and explain how the body releases trauma by digestion, assimilation and processing.
The conference will provide a forum to discuss the role of neural, hormonal , and autonomic processes as mechanisms mediating mental health and emotional challenges and how these neurobiological indices may provide insights into diagnoses, treatments, and outcomes of several psychiatric disorders and psychological challenges. In workshops you will learn the process of mindfulness, somatic experience, HRV-biofeedback and EFT.

ESTD – European Society for Trauma and Dissociation – Sverige inbjuder till en halvdag för medlemmar och andra intresserade behandlare:
Tisdag 2 oktober klockan 14.00 – 18.00
Klockan 14.00 – 15.45:
Tid: Tisdag, 2 oktober klockan 14.00 – 18.00
Plats: Högbergsgatan 31, Andreaskyrkans lokaler nära Slussens tunnelbanestation, Stockholm
Kostnad:
100 kr för medlemmar i ESTD
800 kronor för icke medlemmar, för medlemsskap (50 euro) se www.estd.org .
